In a world without cell phones, what do you do with your thumbs?

LVHRD’S (CLL)PHN-LCKN

Strdy Nov.24.2007 11:09am | by lvhrd

For our first-ever (CLL) PHN-LCKN (Cell Phone Lock-In) at MoMA with PopRally LVHRD confiscated nearly 1,000 cell phones from guests and displayed them as installation art on a custom-built 32 ft wall. For one night several hundreds of human beings received a brief respite from a modern-day mainstay: the cellular phone.

THROWN DOWN

(CLL) PHN-LCKN was a two-fold event designed to highlight the impact of cell phones on social interaction, as well as raise awareness of growing epidemics such as SMC, a dangerous disease transmitted by cell phone radiation. Dr. Mark Marmalard, licensed physician…

Air quality via text message

Mndy Jun.11.2007 4:59pm | by lvhrd

Ergo is a new SMS system that uses data from the EPA and weatherbug.com to give you a rundown of the air quality in your neck of the woods. By texting various phrases to 415 624 6678 you can find out if it’s really as nice as it looks outside, as well as where the air is the dirtiest.

Text a 5 digit zip code (10012) to get the most recent air quality report for that area.

Text “worst” to get the 3 places with the worst air quality in America.

(full list…

Do this for your children

Mndy May.21.2007 10:59am | by lvhrd

We tried to protect you from cell phone radiation at CLLPHNLCKN. Maybe we didn’t go far enough.

Textually reports that Swiss clothing manufacturer, Isabodywear has come out with a new line of men’s briefs made with special silver thread to block harmful cell phone radiation from damaging sperm.

Purportedly, the underwear’s radiation blockage is so strong that if you put your phone inside the briefs and call it, you won’t get a signal.

Guys, it’s like wrapping your valuables in a concrete bunker. Wear these to the next GMHRD and we’ll buy you…

Tonight: make ceviche with les savy fav

Mndy Apr.30.2007 10:37am | by lvhrd

To celebrate the new indie rock cookbook, “I Like Food, Food Tastes Good,” the Brooklyn Kitchen, a cookware store in Williamsburg, presents a nightly cookalong with local rockstars leading up to the book release party at Union Pool on May 5th.

Tonight, Tim Harrington, frontman of Les Savy Fav, who judged LVHRD’s MCFGHT I (MCFGHT II is coming!!) and played at CLL PHN LCKN, teaches the curious how to make ceviche at 7pm.

No word on what kind of ceviche Mr. Harrington will prepare, but this sounds like yummy, community-building fun without the…

LVHRD VDO: 026: CLLPHNLCKN 1.4

Frdy Mar.2.2007 9:56am | by lvhrd

On Tuesday, November 7th 2006, LVHRD presented (CLL) PHN-LCKN with PopRally at MoMA. During the evening, LVHRD confiscated nearly 1000 cell phones from event attendees, storing them on a large 32 foot wall temporarily installed in the museum’s lobby. LVHRD staff donned hazmat-esque safety suits to reduce the risk of SMC contamination. After all cell phones were safely contained, guests were invited to view MoMA’s new contemporary gallery, Out Of Time, and later entertained by art rock band Les Savy Fav.
This episode of the LVHRD VDO Series is the 4th episode…

The FBI is Listening To Cell Phone Calls, Mobsters Beware

Mndy Jan.29.2007 3:50pm | by lvhrd

Remember that scene in Goodfellas (or any mobster movie, for that matter) when Robert DeNiro talks on the pay phone down the street so the FBI can’t track his felonious conversations? Well, in this day and age, that scene wouldn’t fly, not with cell phones and all.

Or maybe it would. In recent news, it turns out that the FBI can now listen to conversations on your cell phone using the microphone inside the device. And if that weren’t enough, they can even listen in when the phone is turned off. Looks like the…

SMC in the U.K.?

Mndy Jan.29.2007 10:27am | by lvhrd

We are proud to say that LVHRD stands at the forefront of battling cell-phone related illnesses, from SMC to texting claws. But with recent research done in the U.K., we are very sad to inform you that cell-phone related tumors are becoming a global epidemic. In a study posted by Telegraph, researchers have discovered that people who use cell phones for more than ten years are 40 percent more likely to develop cancer. Scary…We know, but a cure is being developed. Thanks to informative events like (CLL) PHN-LCKN, research is taking…

LVHRD Interviews JAHFURRY

Wdnsdy Dec.27.2006 10:19pm | by lvhrd

LVHRD: Okay, so this is the DRTS series of LVHRD, something new that we’re starting to find out more about LVHRD and its members. It’s complimentary to LVHRD MGZN’s NTRVW series, and is presented in AIM format to offer more of a conversational approach similar to the fast moving, fast talking internet age. Today, we’re talking to Jeff Newelt, aka JahFurry. Jeff is interesting because he dips his toe into so many different things. On one hand, he’s a PR man at MWW Group for Samsung (the day gig), SMITH Magazine, ACT-I-VATE online…

Seth Herzog’s Annual New Year’s Bash

Wdnsdy Dec.27.2006 5:42pm | by lvhrd

Taking place at Fontana’s in the Lower East Side (no longer at Tai - Tai closed its doors - forget about Tai) is Seth Herzog’s annual New Year’s Eve Party. Starting at 9:30 and going way into the 2 double 0 7, dress attire is optional, so you can wear anything from your Sunday best to your 90’s grunge era flannel shirt. Just not your birthday suit (unless, of course, it’s a dance routine involving a thin curtain, a back light, and a James Bond theme song…).

Ten dollars gets you into the…
